Wireless communications in Steel engineering plant
As a steel engineering plant we aim to increase the usage of lap tops and mobile phones so need for wireless networking is all the more critical to able our staff to do their job to the highest specification. Wireless communications within our plant is not intended as a replacement for the wired network of computers and telephones which exists presently within our firm, but as an addition to this, to provide staff the ability to work within the office or from home. For example if someone has to take time off but we have an urgent email on pipe clamps (Rohrschellen) for instance that needs attending to, this can be sorted from the luxury of their home. It also provides flexibility for some of our lady workers who often find it difficult to juggle work and home, this provides the best of both worlds they can work within the office on some days but if they wish they can take their work home with one of our laptops. It saves on the need for temporary workers and training new people within the job if the work can also be done from a person’s home.
The wireless communications within our steel engineering plant allows the users the ability to roam between access points without losing any web data or telephone coverage. The use of work mobile phones allows the office to keep in touch with a person even if they are on the road. If an employee is running late to a business appointment they are able to let the company know of their status.
The use of these wireless communications is strictly limited to our staff which has been through a security procedure, as to protect information which is held on a number of the computers. For example only the users with permitting passwords will be able to look at the accounts system within the company for various reasons such a salary. Certain telephone numbers also cannot be used, i.e. Premium rate numbers. The mobile phones are also checked on a regular basis to make sure that advantage is not being taken.
Our staffs also have the ability to access a wide range of web services. This means that they are able to check on what a competitor is doing within the market. A check can also be made on anything which is happening within the steel industry which could have an affect on us as a company, a stainless steel pipe (Edelstahlrohre) price explosion for example.
The use of wireless communications within our steel plant is now of the up most importance, and the need for this type of communication is critical in today’s competitive society.
